The 2024 budget was published on the 29th December 2023, confirming that the NHR regime will cease for immigrants to Portugal, as from 1 January 2024.

There are however some residual NHR like benefits for new immigrants, but for practical purposes these can be ignored.

There are transitional rules for those immigrants finalising their immigration processes in 2024, where they had initiated the process in 2023.
